At our Winter Social On Friday evening Sandra and Elliot Murray were the choice of Selkirk Merchant Company to be presented with the James Oliver Memorial Award for service to the community. The award recognises over 25 years service to Selkirk Common Riding as Foot Stewards, most of this time as Head Foot Stewards. Sandra and Elliot have taken on the task of ensuring the safety of all those attending or participating in the numerous public events which take place in Selkirk each year. They organise volunteers and liaise with the Police who use their invaluable local knowledge and experience to safeguard the public.
The Social was a great success with a full house who enjoyed and evening of entertainment from Imogen Hoppé and father and son duo Tommy & Darren Knox.
